September 2026 · National Recovery Month

Community Makes Recovery Real.

Recovery can take many paths, but no one should have to walk alone. This September, Palmer House celebrates the people, partnerships, and practical support that help hope become part of everyday life.

This Month’s Need

Help keep practical support within reach.

Recovery is strengthened when people can reach trustworthy information, emotional support, food assistance, housing resources, and caring relationships. Your support helps Palmer House connect individuals and families with practical next steps.

For many families, one urgent need is connected to several others. A food shortage can strain a household budget. A housing concern can affect emotional wellness. A young person may need encouragement, preparation, and a trusted adult at the same time. Palmer House responds to the whole picture by helping people identify the next right step and connect with support that respects their dignity.

Real Impact · Community Care in Action

Missouri City made a splash for Palmer House.

At Taste of Missouri City 2026, Palmer House was selected as the recipient of Dunk for a Cause. Community leaders stepped into the dunk booth while neighbors took their shots, shared a laugh, and turned a joyful moment into meaningful support for the Palmer House mission.

Thank you for showing up.

Palmer House was honored to be selected as the recipient of Dunk for a Cause, a joyful community feature that brought neighbors, leaders, and local supporters together around a shared purpose.

Palmer House extends sincere appreciation to Monika Roberts, Missouri City Recreation & Economic Development, the Small Business Advisory Committee, masters of ceremonies Chris Cerda and Alicia Brownwell, and DJ Elias for helping make the event possible.

We also thank Dunk for a Cause participants Donnie Hayes, Chris Cerda, Mayor Pro Tem Lynn Clouser, Councilmember Sharita L. Thompson, and Councilmember Sonya Brown-Marshall. Their participation helped introduce more neighbors to the Palmer House mission and the work of supporting individuals and families with dignity, resources, and hope.

Monthly Awareness · September 2026

Recovery, Prevention, and Connection

September brings National Recovery Month and Suicide Prevention Month into focus. Recovery is strengthened through caring connection, practical support, and communities that notice when someone may need help.

Recovery is not one size fits all. It can include treatment, peer support, safe housing, stable work, family relationships, faith, wellness practices, and community resources. The shared thread is connection. When people feel seen, supported, and able to reach quality care, hope has more room to grow.

Recovery is possible.

Every path is personal. Every step toward safety, health, purpose, and connection matters.

The CDC identifies supportive relationships, community connection, and access to consistent quality care as important protective factors. Learn more through National Recovery Month, the 988 Lifeline, CDC prevention resources, and 211 Texas.

AI Made Practical

Use AI to prepare a caring check-in.

AI can help you find simple, supportive words for a conversation with someone you care about. It cannot assess immediate risk or replace a trained professional. If someone may be in danger or is talking about suicide, call or text 988. Call 911 in an emergency.

Keep the conversation human.

  1. Begin with something specific you noticed and express care without judgment.
  2. Ask one open question, then listen without rushing to solve the problem.
  3. Offer to stay connected while the person reaches a trusted professional, 988, or another appropriate resource.

Help me write a short, caring message to check in with someone I am worried about. Use plain language, avoid judgment, and include one gentle question that invites them to talk. Do not ask for private medical details. Remind me that I can call or text 988 for free, confidential support if there is emotional distress or concern about suicide, and to call 911 if there is immediate danger.

Open an AI Tool

Do not enter names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, medical details, case information, account numbers, or other private information into a public AI tool. Verify important information directly with the organization or qualified professional.
